Brain Frontier is a 2D cinematic action game where combat is driven not by reflexes, but by your thoughts. You play as a parasite buried deep in the mind of a warrior, fighting internal emotional conflict to control the host's body. Actions on the battlefield—punches, kicks, jumps, and dodges—are all dictated by brain signals fired from the subconscious.

Set in a surreal world where the frontier of consciousness meets brutal combat, your job is to guide the right thoughts to the brain’s command center while filtering out noise, doubt, and emotional debris. One wrong signal, and your host may falter. One perfect combo, and you unleash devastating attacks with unmatched precision.

This game is a twist on the fighting game genre, blending psychological decision-making with tactile beat-em-up combat. It’s not just about skill—it’s about clarity, intention, and emotional control.

HOW TO PLAY

On the lower half of the screen, brain signals (keys: J, K, L, ;) scroll across like thought impulses.

The player (ghost) must destroy or preserve signals using:

Z – Clear/Delete unnecessary thoughts

X – Mix/Confirm thought combo and send it to the upper brain

For example: Typing JLLJXLKJ; sends a signal to execute:

Upper Punch + Lower Punch

These combos then control the upper screen, where the main character performs the attack sequence based on the received brain signals.

Mastering signal timing and filtering is the core challenge.

THEME  &  INTERPRETATION FOR THE JAM

Frontier: The game explores the inner frontier—the edge between instinct and action, emotion and violence, mind and muscle. You're literally on the front lines of thought, fighting battles before they reach the body.

Fighting Game + Emotional Depth: Unlike traditional fighting games, your punches come from emotional impulses. You'll face distraction signals like fear, rage, doubt—block them or let them corrupt your actions.
